Prices

Q. How much do your custom portraits cost?
A. Our portrait prices range from £39.90 to £85.90. We like to have a size and price point for every budget. We offer a variety of styles, sizes , and materials. Please see our price list for the various options. arrow

Giclee Prints

Q.What exactly is a digital painting? How are these paintings created?
A. Susanne's medium is her computer. Painted Pets Portraits are created from your snapshots on Susanne's computer. Giclee prints on artist grade canvas look like paintings that took months to create. arrow

Giclee Printing is the highest quality digital ink jet printing available for fine artwork today. The archival quality of these prints is much higher than the "standard" inkjet prints. Giclee prints will last a lifetime. All of Susanne's custom prints are signed by herself. arrow

Q. Do I need to handle these works with special care?
A. It is important to hang the portrait prints away from direct sunlight. Any fine art print or painting will fade over time when exposed to direct sun every day. arrow

Collage Style

Q. Can you place our pet in any painting or photograph?
A. Susanne works only with very old deceased artists to avoid copyright issues. You can always supply her with a copy of a painting or photograph to scan (8 x 10 or smaller). However, the artist that created the painting you choose must not be contemporary. For contemporary photographs you have to confirm that either you are the owner or own the copyright of the photo. arrow

Warhol Style

Q. Can I choose my colors?
A. Yes of course, all of Susanne's work is custom. So if you have favourite colors you would like to be used just let Susanne know by email or by giving some information on your order form. arrow

Q. Can I place a different pet in each panel of my Warhol-Style Print?
A. Yes, but. there is an additional £20 fee for each additional pet. This covers the cost of scanning and cleaning up each photograph. Pets do not need to be in the same photo to place them together in one artwork. arrow

Sending Photos

Q. What is the best resolution and file size for digital photos?
A. When sending Susanne your digital files, a resolution of 300dpi, or a file size of 1MB or higher is ideal. You can send your files either per email or burnt on a CD. For more information on resolution and file size, see our photo tips page. arrow

Q. How do I send my photos to you?

A. You can send your photos either as "real" photos by mail (see address below), or as attachment to an email, or burnt on a CD by mail . Please see our photo tips page about what size and resolution your pictures should have. arrow

Q. I have several photos of my pet, and I can't choose between them. Can you show me proofs from several snapshots?
A. Send your files along and ask Susanne for advice. If you need her to provide you with proofs from several photos there is a £20 fee for each additional photo (the same cost as adding a new pet to your project). arrow

Q. Can I send you a real snapshot via mail, instead of emailing a digital photo?
A. Yes, you can. Please send your photographic snapshots to the address below and be sure to include your name and address with your photos. arrow

My dog is very black - would he be suitable for a portrait?

Q. My dog is very black (solid).  His coat colour being so dense, would this be suitable for a pop art style or fine art style portrait? On the photos I have, often his features do not show clearly.
painted labradors

A. Even if your pet has a solidly (black) coloured coat, we will be able to make portraits, mainly by transforming shadows and highlights into different colours, as well by painting strains of hair (i.g. around eyes and muzzle) in expressive colours. Please click on the thumbnail to the left showing two black labradors to see an example. arrow

Will I get a proof the portrait?

Q. Will I get a proof of the portrait I ordered before you print and send it?
A. Yes. All customers get around 5 online proofs. You may choose from one of the proofs provided. If, after that, you are still not satisfied and need additional work done, a design fee of £35/hour will apply.arrow

Q. Can I just get a proof of all 3 of your different portrait art styles (Warhol Portrait, Fine Art Style and Collage Style)?
A. Yes, that's possible. However there will be a design fee associated with each additional style of proof, beyond the first style ordered. arrow

Delivery Time & Shipping

Q. How long will it take to get my portrait?
A. Orders are usually dispatched within 2 to 3 weeks of receiving them. If a portrait is needed sooner or by a specific date, you can call 01263 721015 or contact Susanne to discuss speeding up your order. arrow

Q. What are the fees for postage & package?
Shipping costs are usually 12% of the cost for the prints you ordered. For example, if you order an artwork for £61.90, P&P will be £7.40.
If you live locally in Norfolk, you can of course come and collect your prints in person and save on P&P.arrow

Q. How are my portraits packaged?
A. Rolled canvas prints are sent in a strong cardboard mailing tube. Stretched canvas prints are packaged flat in strong boxes with bubble wrap and wrapping paper. arrow

Q. How are portraits shipped?
A. We generally use Royal Mail. Local clients can always arrange to pick up their artwork by themselves. arrow

Satisfaction guarantee

Q. What if I am not happy with the pet portrait created for me?
A. Your project may be canceled at any time during the design phase for a full refund. However, money can not be refunded after you have approved a proof for printing. arrow

If your print arrives with damage due to shipping mishandling or other apparent surface flaws, the print will be replaced or your money refunded. Shipping fees will not be refunded. arrow

Copyrights

Q. Can I use my pet's portrait on my logo or in my store?
A. No. Painted Pets retains the reproduction rights on all of Susanne's original art work. You hold the copyright on your snapshot. However once that snapshot has been turned into original art, the copyright on the new original artwork lies with Painted Pets. arrow
